BA Theology and Religious Studies(Part-Time)

Learning outcomes

In Year 1 of this part-time programme, students should have acquired essential academic skills for continuation on the programme by passing the required 5-credit module PRHS1025 Introduction to Academic Skills.

By the end of the Year 2 of the programme, students should have achieved the appropriate level of proficiency in both theology and religious studies, having completed the two L1 core modules: THEO1930 Introduction to the Study of Religion/s, and THEO1970 Introducing Theology.

Depending on module choice, by the end of Year 2 (Level 1) students will have acquired knowledge of philosophy of religion, further critical reading skills in TRS, and an introductory proficiency in the study of one or more major world religions.

Transferable (key) skills

Students will have had the opportunity to acquire, as defined in the modules specified for the programme:

- qualities and transferable skills necessary for employment in a plural society;
- skills necessary for the exercising of personal responsibility.

Assessment

Achievement will be assessed by a variety of methods in accordance with the learning outcomes of the modules specified for the year/programme and will include:

- demonstrating the knowledge and application of standard concepts, information and techniques relevant to the discipline;
- work that covers a restricted area of the discipline;
- demonstrating emerging abilities, skills and competencies.
