Learning outcomes

On completion of the programme students should have shown evidence of being able:
LO1: Be able to understand integrate and critically analyse contemporary management and Information Systems/Information Management research and theories and related business and management trends (PA1, PA3)

LO2: Be able to draw upon, analyse, interpret and evaluate information from a wide range of relevant sources and identify critical issues (PA1, PA2)

LO3: Be able to analyse and understand the management and organisational issues around the development of Information Systems and information solutions in organisations (PA1, PA3, PA5)

LO4: Be able to generate insights and understanding of Information Systems/Information Management in the context of the opportunities and implications of globalisation-cultural-ethical, and new and unfamiliar contexts (PA1, PA3, PA4, PA6)

LO5: Define, plan, execute and present a significant, detailed and academically rigorous piece of standalone independent research (PA2, PA6)

LO6: Reflect upon and critically evaluate individual performance strengths, weaknesses, and development needs drawing on personal reflection and student/academic input to demonstrate personal development (PA7)

LO7: Orally present complex ideas and arguments, persuasively and competently. (PA8)

LO8: Produce high-quality written essays and documents (PA2, PA6)

LO9: Work effectively as part of a group (PA1, PA8)

Transferable (key) skills

Masters (Taught) students will have had the opportunity to acquire the following abilities as defined in the modules specified for the programme:
- TS1: analysis and critical thinking within the discipline: the skills necessary to undertake a higher research degree and/or for employment in a higher capacity in industry/professional practice;
- TS2: self-reflection: evaluating their own achievement and that of others;
- TS3: ability to draw upon research, trends an in-depth/breadth of knowledge to solve problems and make effective decisions in a self-directed manner
- TS4: independent learning and the ability to work in a way which ensures continuing professional development;
- TS5: ability to conduct research on Information Systems and Information and critically to engage in the development of professional/disciplinary boundaries and norms.

Assessment

Achievement for the degree of Master (taught programme) will be assessed by a variety of methods in accordance with the learning outcomes of the modules specified for the year/programme and will involve the achievement of the students in:
- A1: evidencing an ability to conduct independent in-depth enquiry within the discipline;
- A2: demonstrating the ability to apply breadth and/or depth of knowledge to a complex specialist area;
- A3: drawing on a range of perspectives on an area of study;
- A4: evaluating and criticising received opinion;
- A5: make reasoned judgements whilst understanding the limitations on judgements made in the absence of complete data.
