Learning outcomes
On completion of the year students should have shown evidence of being able to:- demonstrate the application of evidence based approaches and knowledge of specific research methodologies relevant to clinical care by formulating and designing a clinical evaluative study.- demonstrate an advanced understanding of techniques applicable to their own research or advanced scholarship within clinical care;- take a proactive and self-reflective role in working and to develop professional relationships with others;- proactively formulate ideas and hypotheses which evaluate the effectiveness of recognised evidence based improvements to clinical care;- critically assess and evaluate the current provision and nature of specific clinical care by applying enhanced professional knowledge to a critique of its research base;- have an advanced understanding of the concept of change and the complexity of factors which impact on its success in healthcare organisations;- formulate a coherent, reasoned argument to healthcare providers in order to influence and improve clinical care outcomes for patients.

Assessment
Achievement for the Postgraduate Diploma will be assessed by a variety of methods in accordance with the learning outcomes of the programme and will involve the achievement of the students in:- demonstrating the ability to apply breadth and/or depth of knowledge to a complex specialist area;- drawing on a range of perspectives on an area of study;- evaluating received opinion;- make sound judgements whilst understanding the limitations on judgements made in the absence of complete data.
