Foundation Course in Family Therapy

Learning outcomes

On completion of this course, students will be able to:

- Describe a range of systemic approaches and examples of their application
- Take a critical stance to systemic ideas and their value and use relevant literature to support their critical approach
- Place systemic therapy in a historical context
- Use systemic ideas to combat discrimination and promote anti-discriminatory practice
- Describe the implications of adherence to the AFT code of ethics
- Describe their own family and cultural experiences from a systemic perspective
- Demonstrate, through role play, a range of practical skills including genogram construction, circular questioning and positive connotation
- Give an account of their own personal learning process
