Learning outcomes

On completion of the year/programme students should have provided evidence of being able to:

- communicate in Spanish so as to sustain everyday conversation with a native or other competent speaker of the language
- master the basic elements of the other subject studied
- demonstrate receptive and productive language skills in a variety of contexts in Spanish
- demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of the literature, history and visual cultures of the Spanish-speaking world
- present a structured and coherent simple argument


On completion of the year/programme students should have provided evidence of being able to:
- demonstrate a familiarity with the basic concepts, information, practical competencies and techniques which are standard features of the subject;
- use basic generic and subject specific intellectual qualities i.e.
- - be able to communicate the results of their work;
- - present a structured and coherent simple argument;
- - be able to interpret and evaluate the underlying concepts and principles of the subject;
- demonstrate an ability to evaluate the appropriateness of different approaches to problem solving associated with the subject;
- appreciate their strengths and weaknesses as learners;
- demonstrate an awareness of professional and disciplinary boundaries.

Transferable (key) skills

Students will have had the opportunity to acquire, as defined in the modules specified for the programme:

- qualities and transferable skills necessary for employment related to the subject area(s) studied, e.g. be able to gather and process information from a variety of paper, audio-visual and electronic sources, be able to use IT effectively both as a means of communication and as an aid to learning
- skills necessary for the exercising of personal responsibility and independent learning, including the ability to appreciate their strengths and weaknesses as learners

Assessment

Achievement will be assessed by a variety of methods in accordance with the learning outcomes of the modules specified for the year/programme and will include:

- demonstrating the knowledge and application of standard concepts, information and techniques relevant to the area of study
- work that covers a restricted area of the discipline;
- demonstrating emerging abilities, skills and competencies;
