Year 3

Learning outcomes

On completion of the year abroad students should have provided evidence of being able to:

- Engage in conversation at both formal and informal level, write and read at a level necessary to debate academic topics at University level (or equivalent);
- Acquire academic and practical knowledge of contemporary Italy;
- Develop personal independence, self-confidence, and the social and interpersonal skills.

Transferable (key) skills

Students will have had the opportunity to acquire, as defined in the modules specified for the programme:

- Oral, written and practical skills in Italian;
- The organisation of life and study in Italy;
- Inter-personal skills required to operate in Italian-speaking society;
- The ability to appreciate their strengths and weaknesses as learners;
- Skills necessary for the communication of information;
- Skills necessary for the exercising of personal responsibility and decision making.

Assessment

Achievement will be assessed (on a Pass/Fail basis) by a variety of methods in accordance with the learning outcomes specified for the residence abroad and will include:

- Successful completion of courses agreed and approved by the two universities (or reference letter from the employer) as stated in the learning agreement signed by the student before the beginning of the year abroad;
- Submission of a year-abroad log and/or other written assignments as specified in the learning agreement.
