Learning outcomes
On completion of the year abroad students should be able to demonstrate:- An ability to communicate confidently and proficiently with native or other competent speakers of Spanish across the sometimes unpredictable and complex range of aspects of everyday life, work and/or study in a foreign culture;- First-hand knowledge and appreciation of the target culture;- Enhanced cultural self-awareness.
Transferable (key) skills
Students will have had the opportunity to acquire, as defined in the modules specified for the programme:- Oral, written and practical skills in Spanish;- The organisation of life and study in Spanish speaking countries;- Inter-personal skills required to operate in Spanish-speaking society;- The ability to appreciate their strengths and weaknesses as learners;- Skills necessary for the communication of information;- Skills necessary for the exercising of personal responsibility and decision making.
Assessment
The achievement of the programme outcomes will be assessed by a variety of methods in accordance with the learning outcomes of the modules specified for each subject and will include:- Demonstrating the ability to apply a broad range of aspects of Spanish and Theatre/Performance;- Work that draws on a wide variety of material associated with the disciplines;- The ability to evaluate and criticise received opinion;- Work that is both evaluative and analytical.Achievement will be assessed by a variety of methods in accordance with the learning outcomes of the modules specified for the year/programme and will include:- Demonstrating a broad knowledge base within the discipline;- Work that draws on a wide variety of material and is typically both evaluative and creative;- The ability to evaluate and criticise received opinion;- Demonstrating evidence of the ability to conduct independent, in-depth enquiry within the discipline.
