Year 2

Learning outcomes

On completion of Year 2, students should have provided evidence of being able to:

LO1 (Year 2): Demonstrate a more advanced knowledge of the management decision making process
LO2 (Year 2): Research structured and unstructured business problems with the ability to identify and conceptualise the critical factors involved, and critically review existing evidence
LO3 (Year 2): Apply appropriate mathematical and statistical tools to analyse structured and unstructured problems in business and economics in a methodologically correct, accurate and rigorous manner to analyse different types of datasets
LO4 (Year 2): Critically evaluate and interpret the results of data analysis in structured and unstructured business and economics problems
LO5 (Year 2): Demonstrate enhanced writing and communication skills
LO6 (Year 2): Exhibit enhanced presentation skills
LO7 (Year 2): Work more effectively in teams, demonstrating enhanced interpersonal skills and enhanced ability to function sensitively and productively when working with others
LO8 (Year 2): Demonstrate enhanced awareness of ethics, integrity and responsibility in undertaking data analysis
LO9 (Year2): Demonstrate enhanced awareness of globalisation and the importance of cultural insight in management and business
LO10 (Year 2): Reflect critically on their own learning experiences and demonstrate enhanced ability and commitment to personal development and the pursuit of excellence

Transferable (key) skills

Students will have had the opportunity to acquire, as defined in the modules specified for the programme:

- qualities and transferable skills necessary for employment related to business analytics
- skills necessary for the exercising of personal responsibility
- decision making

Assessment

Achievement will be assessed by a variety of methods in accordance with the learning outcomes of the modules specified for Year 2 and will include:

- demonstrating the ability to apply a broad range of aspects/competencies of business analytics and related business disciplines to complex, albeit standard, situations and simple, albeit novel or atypical, instances;
- work that is often descriptive in nature but drawing on a wide variety of material
- demonstrating basic professional competencies relevant to the business analytics and related business disciplines
- the ability to evaluate and criticise received opinion
