Learning outcomes
On completion of the year/programme students should have provided evidence of being able to:- demonstrate in-depth, critically appraised knowledge and skills relevant to advanced clinical dental care and a clear understanding of concepts, information and techniques informed by current scientific evidence.- exhibit competence in the exercise of clinical dental procedures;- demonstrate an in-depth understanding of the dental literature, guidelines and best practice to inform evidence-based clinical decision making.- practise within the highest standards of patient safety- monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of treatment undertaken.- take a proactive and self-reflective role in working to develop professional relationships with all members of the wider patient care team;- proactively formulate ideas /hypotheses and evaluate these;- evaluate current issues and research in the discipline.

Assessment
Achievement for the Postgraduate Diploma and Postgraduate Certificate will be assessed by a variety of methods in accordance with the learning outcomes of the programme and will involve the achievement of the students in:- demonstrating the ability to apply breadth and depth of knowledge of advanced clinical dental care;- the ability to competently perform appropriate clinical procedures in relation to advanced clinical dental care- evaluating received opinion;- making sound clinical judgements within the scope and limitations of current relevant scientific evidence and the uncertainty that this brings
