On completion of the programme students should have shown evidence of being able:LO 26 Undertake a small-scale, practice-based empirical research project on a theme relevant to their role as medicaland/or health professional educators which synthesises their learning across the programme and demonstratesacademic integrity;LO27 Apply a range of research tools appropriate to their research methodology and research questionsLO28 Demonstrate a critical understanding of how to present and interpret research dataLO29 Produce a written report outlining their research project, findings and implicationsLO30 Critique their own research and that of othersLO31 Critically reflect on and discuss the role of the researcher
Transferable (key) skills
Masters in Medical Education students will have had the opportunity to acquire the following abilities as defined in the modules specified for the programme: Skills necessary to undertake research and policy development at a higher level to prepare them for a future career as leaders in medical and/or health professional education, researchers, and advocates of research-led work in medical and/or health professional education Self-direction and effective decision making in complex and unpredictable situations relating to medical and/or health professional education research and policy development Independent learning and the ability to work in a way which ensures continuing professional development as a medical and/or health professional educator
Assessment
Achievement for the Masters in Medical Education will be assessed by a variety of methods in accordance with the learning outcomes of the programme and will involve the achievement of the students in:Demonstrating a practical understanding of the steps required to undertake the research project;Selecting, designing, constructing and applying a range of research tools appropriate to their researchMethodology and research questions;Demonstrating a critical understanding of how to present and interpret research data; findings andimplicationsReflecting critically on the limitations of their own research and the role of the researcher
