Year 3

Learning outcomes

On completion of the year students should have:

The ability to cope with a significant change in their environment and to adapt to a new culture;

A deeper understanding of the country in which they are studying

A more developed legal understanding in relation to another legal tradition and/or the legal structures of international legal frameworks.

Transferable (key) skills

Students will have had the opportunity to:

Develop skills of adaptability and cultural flexibility, and problem solve as part of that

Learn to cope with different educational, learning and assessment styles

Reflect on cultural difference, and their own positioning within that difference

In the case of students studying in a country where the first language is not English, to acquire basic functional skills in that language

Assessment

Achievement will be assessed by the host university, using their own assessment strategy. In addition, students will be assessed via a series of submitted reflections, which require them to consider issues of cultural, educational and legal difference.
