MSc Global Strategy and Innovation Management

Learning outcomes

On completion of the programme, our students will:
i. Be able to identify, summarise and critically evaluate key theories and relevant empirical research evidence within the fields of management, international business or economics relevant to innovation management, and provide a professional insight into the operations of complex businesses in the global environment. (PA 1, 4)
ii. Be able to develop and critically discuss reasoned and logical arguments, reflecting current concepts and thinking in the field of innovation management. (PA 1, 5)
iii. Be able to critically evaluate differences in innovation management across cultures and countries. (PA 2)
iv. Be able to identify solutions to complex and unpredictable innovation management problems, by implementing appropriate decision making and problem solving tools (PA 3)
v. Be able to critically analyse, interpret and evaluate information from a wide range of relevant sources and demonstrate advance independent research skills in the field. (PA 4)
vi. Be able to produce professional quality written assignments and reports on the practices of innovation management and the development of new ventures, products/services ideas. (PA 5)
vii. Be able to identify ethical dilemmas inherent to the emergence of new technologies and argue how such ethical considerations inform decision-makers. (PA 2, 6)
viii. Be able to apply practices, theories and skills learned to practical and professional settings and contexts. (PA 7)
ix. Be able to confidently operate as an effective group member. (PA 5, 7)

Assessment

Achievement for the Masters Degree will be assessed by a variety of methods in accordance with the learning outcomes of the programme and will involve the achievement of the students in:
- demonstrating the ability to apply breadth and/or depth of knowledge to a complex specialist area;
- drawing on a range of perspectives on an area of study;
- evaluating received opinion;
- make sound judgements whilst understanding the limitations on judgements made in the absence of complete data.
