Learning outcomes

On completion of the programme students should have provided evidence of being able to:
• Demonstrate in-depth specialist knowledge of techniques and professional competencies relevant to echocardiography and demonstrate an advanced understanding of concepts, information and techniques informed by knowledge across the forefront of the discipline;
• Exhibit competence in subject-specific intellectual abilities;
• Demonstrate an advanced understanding of techniques applicable to their own area of specific interest within the broader discipline;
• Critically evaluate current issues and research in cardiac management with a focus on evidence based practice

Transferable (key) skills

• The skills necessary to undertake a higher research degree and/or for employment in a higher capacity in their area of professional practice;
• Evaluating their own achievement through reflection in case based discussions;
• Self-direction and effective decision making in complex and unpredictable situations;
• Independent learning and the ability to work in a way which ensures continuing professional development;
• Engage in the development of professional/disciplinary boundaries and norms.

Assessment

• Demonstrating the ability to apply breadth and/or depth of knowledge to a complex specialist area;
• Drawing on a range of perspectives on an area of study;
• Evaluating received opinion;
• Making sound judgements whilst understanding the limitations on judgements made in the absence of complete data.
• Applying clinical knowledge within their specialist area to support advanced practice
