Year 2

Learning outcomes

On completion of the year students should have provided evidence of being able to:
- speak and understand everyday conversation, write basic sentences and read simple texts in Arabic;
- acquire academic and practical knowledge of contemporary Middle East;
- learn how to live and study successfully in the Middle East.

Transferable (key) skills

Students will have had the opportunity to develop and practise:
- oral, written and practical skills in Arabic;
- the organisation of life and study in the Middle East;
- inter-personal skills required to operate in Middle Eastern society;
- report writing skills.

Assessment

Achievement will be assessed (on a Pass/Fail basis) by:
- pass all the year abroad modules;
- regular tests and examinations set by the year abroad institution and the University of Leeds;
- successful completion of all courses taken in the year abroad institution.
