Year 3

Learning outcomes

On completion of the year of work experience you should be able to demonstrate:

- An understanding of a psychology-related work environment, how it functions and your contribution to it
- An understanding of, and ability to, apply your work based learning to other areas of personal development, including academic performance in Psychology
- High level transferable skills including communication (written and oral), self motivation, initiative, organisation and time management, objective setting, negotiating and team working
- An ability to decide, plan and compete in the job market.

Transferable (key) skills

- skills necessary for the communication of information;
- skills necessary for the exercising of personal responsibility;
- decision making.

The work placement will provide an opportunity to develop a range of new skills and attributes and build on existing ones within Psychology.

On graduation employers require students to have gained more than a degree during their time at university, they require applicants to provide clear examples of times when they have demonstrated the skills and attributes that they value.

Assessment

Achievement will be assessed by a variety of methods in accordance with the learning outcomes of the CSER8000 module (Work Placement Year) and will include:
- Portfolio
- Presentation and interview.
