MSc Senior Leadership(Apprenticeship Route)

Year 1

Learning outcomes

On completion of the year/programme students should have provided evidence of being able to:
- demonstrate in-depth specialist knowledge of techniques relevant to the discipline of business and management and think creatively to develop an advanced understanding of concepts, information and techniques informed by knowledge across, or in aspects at, the forefront of the discipline;
- exhibit competence and a critical awareness of the need for effective and ethical leadership;
- demonstrate an advanced understanding of the techniques applicable to their own research, so that knowledge based solutions to complex management problems are found and strategic decisions are made;
- take a proactive and self-reflective role in working and to develop strong professional relationships with others;
- proactively formulate ideas so that strategic decisions can be justified;
- demonstrate strong oral and written skills when communicating with others;
- demonstrate an understanding of corporate social responsibility, particularly when making decisions;
- show the skills acquired on the job and off the job via a reflective piece of work (EPA) linked to the workplace
- demonstrate transferrable skills throughout the programme

Transferable (key) skills

Masters (Taught), Postgraduate Diploma students will have had the opportunity to acquire the following abilities as defined in the modules specified for the programme:
- the skills necessary to undertake critical reflection in the area of professional practice;
- synthesise information in order to solve problems and to evaluate their own achievement and that of others;
- self-direction and effective strategic decision making in complex and unpredictable situations;
- critically demonstrate effective communication skills;
- independent learning and the ability to work in a way which ensures continuing professional development;
- critically engage in the development of professional/disciplinary boundaries and norms the skills necessary to undertake critical reflection in the area of professional practice;
- the skills needed to demonstrate knowledge, behaviour, interpersonal and organizational skills achieved;

Assessment

Achievement for the Postgraduate Diploma will be assessed by a variety of methods in accordance with the learning outcomes of the programme and will involve the achievement of the students in:
- demonstrating the ability to apply breadth and/or depth of knowledge to a complex specialist area;
- critically evaluating a range of perspectives on an area of study;
- critically examining and rationalising a received opinion;
- making strategic decisions whilst understanding the limitations on judgements made in the absence of complete data.
- Demonstrate the importance of corporate social responsibility when making decisions
