Learning outcomes

On completion of the year/programme students should have provided evidence of being able to:
- demonstrate in-depth specialist knowledge of techniques relevant to the discipline of business and management and think creatively and critically to develop an advanced understanding of concepts, information and techniques informed by knowledge across, or in aspects at, the forefront of the discipline;
- exhibit mastery and a critical awareness of the need for effective and ethical leadership;
- demonstrate an advanced and comprehensive understanding of the techniques applicable to their own research, so that knowledge based solutions to complex management problems are found and strategic decisions are made;
- take a critically proactive and self-reflective role in working and to develop strong professional relationships with others;
- proactively formulate ideas and develop hypotheses so that strategic decisions can be justified and critically evaluated;
- synthesise a high-level of oral and written skills to a professional standard when communicating with others
- critically apply corporate social responsibility issues when making strategic decisions

Transferable (key) skills

Masters (taught), students will have had the opportunity to acquire the following abilities, as defined in the modules specified for the programme:

- the mastery skills necessary to undertake critical reflection in the area of professional practice;
- synthesise information in order to solve problems, justify these and to evaluate their own achievement and that of others in a professional manner;
- self-direction and effective strategic decision making in complex, challenging and unpredictable situations;
- demonstrate mastery communication skills
- independent learning and the ability to work in a way which ensures continuing professional development;
- critically engage and critically reflect in the development of professional/disciplinary boundaries and norms the skills necessary to undertake critical self-reflection in the area of professional practice;
- the skills needed to demonstrate knowledge, behaviour, interpersonal and organizational skills achieved;

Assessment

Achievement for the degree of Master (taught programme) will be assessed by a variety of methods in accordance with the learning outcomes of the modules specified for the year/programme and will include:
- critically demonstrate the ability to apply breadth and/or depth of knowledge to a complex specialist area;
- synthesise and critically evaluate a range of perspectives on an area of study;
- critically evaluate and rationalise a received opinion;
- critically appraise and examine strategic decisions whilst understanding the limitations on judgements made in the absence of complete data.
- Demonstrate the importance of corporate social responsibility when making strategic decisions
