BA Arabic and Middle Eastern Studies

Year 2

Learning outcomes

On completion of the year students should have provided evidence of being able to:
- speak and understand everyday conversation, write basic sentences and read simple texts in Arabic
- acquire academic and practical knowledge of the contemporary Middle East
- learn how to live and study successfully in the Middle East.

Transferable (key) skills

Students will have had the opportunity to develop and practice:
- oral, written and practical skills in the target language
- the organisation of life and study in the Middle East
- inter-personal skills required to operate in Middle Eastern society
- report writing skills.


Achievement will be assessed (on a Pass/Fail basis) by:
- passing all the year abroad modules, in case of failure a resit exam will be arranged.
- regular tests and examinations set by the year abroad institution and the University of Leeds.
- successful completion of all courses taken in the year abroad institution.
