BA Arabic and Middle Eastern Studies
On completion of the year students should have provided evidence of being able to:- speak and understand everyday conversation, write basic sentences and read simple texts in Arabic- acquire academic and practical knowledge of the contemporary Middle East- learn how to live and study successfully in the Middle East.
Transferable (key) skills
Students will have had the opportunity to develop and practice:- oral, written and practical skills in the target language- the organisation of life and study in the Middle East- inter-personal skills required to operate in Middle Eastern society- report writing skills.
Achievement will be assessed (on a Pass/Fail basis) by:- passing all the year abroad modules, in case of failure a resit exam will be arranged.- regular tests and examinations set by the year abroad institution and the University of Leeds.- successful completion of all courses taken in the year abroad institution.
