BA Digital Media

Learning outcomes

1. Demonstrate an understanding of the development of digital communication and new media technologies and a recognition of the different ways in which developments in media and communication can be understood in relation to technological and social change
2. Produce work which demonstrates an awareness of professional practice in graphic and web design, appropriate to a range of content, audiences and delivery mechanisms
3. Put to use a range of IT skills from basic competences such as data analysis and word-processing to more complex skills using web-based technology or multimedia, and develop, as appropriate, specific proficiencies in utilising a range of media technologies;
4. Understand the importance of engaging critically with media products and scholarship (M&C 2)
5. Analyse media products from a range of perspectives, taking into account the diverse industries and contexts in which they are created and encountered (M&C 3)
6. Communicate in a range of styles and media (M&C 5)
7. Demonstrate a range of core academic skills including research, essay writing and cogent formulation of arguments, making use, as appropriate, of a problem-solving approach

Students will have had the opportunity to acquire, as defined in the modules specified for the programme:

Assessment

Achievement will be assessed by a variety of methods in accordance with the learning outcomes of the modules specified for the year/programme and will include:

- demonstrating the knowledge and application of standard concepts, information and techniques relevant to the discipline;
- work that covers a restricted area of the discipline;
- demonstrating emerging abilities, skills and competencies;
