Learning outcomes
On completion of the year students should have provided evidence of being able to:Research skills- Respond to questions set by a tutor in relation to research-led teaching- Present a structured and coherent argument- Demonstrate the ability to identify, summarize and challenge evidence obtained from key sources- Demonstrate integrity in use of material and ability to make reference to sources following conventions appropriate to the discipline(s)Subject knowledge- Demonstrate an understanding of core linguistic terms and concepts- Demonstrate familiarity with some basic concepts, problems and arguments in some central areas of philosophy- Outline common approaches to the study of language and philosophy- Show an understanding of core terms and concepts relating to theory formation and theory testingAnalysis skills- Perform a basic linguistic analysis of given written and/or spoken data, with appropriate guidance- Show an awareness of formal, qualitative and quantitative methods of linguistic analysis- Demonstrate a familiarity with a range of analytic techniques, including phonetic transcription and structural annotation- Demonstrate the ability to assess arguments and detect irrelevance- Show a basic knowledge and analytical understanding of some key philosophical texts in the history of philosophy
Transferable (key) skills

Assessment
