BA Music with Enterprise

Learning outcomes

On completion of the year/programme students should have provided evidence of being able to:
- demonstrate an understanding of the basic concepts and theoretical paradigms of music analysis, theory and history;
- display an ability to apply these concepts and paradigms in a range of different musical perspectives;
- show an awareness of approaches and developments in chosen areas such as performance, composition, technology and music psychology;
- develop an understanding of musical processes through analytical studies;
- develop an understanding of the ideas of style and genre both in musicological and cultural terms;
- begin to understand the links between theory and practice, and the interrelationships between the various sub-disciplines of music;
- demonstrate an understanding of forms of entrepreneurship and enterprising activity;
- demonstrate an understanding of relevant enterprise development processes;
- acquire basic skills in academic research and writing, engaging with specific set texts and showing an ability to find and research relevant texts independently;
- demonstrate an ability to reflect critically on their own progress and achievement.

Transferable (key) skills

Students will have had the opportunity to acquire, as defined in the modules specified for the programme:

- qualities and transferable skills necessary for employment related to the subject area(s) studied;
- skills necessary for the exercising of personal responsibility.

Assessment

Achievement will be assessed by a variety of methods in accordance with the learning outcomes of the modules specified for the year/programme and will include:
- demonstrating the knowledge and application of standard concepts, information and techniques relevant to the discipline;
- work that covers restricted areas of the discipline;
- demonstrating emerging abilities, skills and competencies.
