On completion of the year/programme students should have provided evidence of being able to:• understand the underlying values, theories and concepts relevant to Psychology and Education;• demonstrate generic academic skills > present a structured and coherent argument;> interpret and evaluate the underlying concepts and principles;> evaluate qualitative and quantitative data;• develop communication skills which might include report writing, reflective logs, videos or presentations;• demonstrate practical competencies and techniques which are standard features of the disciplines;• demonstrate an ability to evaluate the appropriateness of different approaches to problem solving associated with the disciplines;• appreciate their strengths and weaknesses as learners;• demonstrate an awareness of professional and disciplinary boundaries.
Transferable (key) skills
Students will have had the opportunity to acquire, as defined in the modules specified for the programme:• qualities and transferable skills necessary for employment related to the subject areas studied;• skills necessary for the exercising of personal responsibility.
Achievement will be assessed by a variety of methods in accordance with the learning outcomes of the modules specified for the year/programme and will include:• demonstrating the knowledge and application of standard concepts, information and techniques relevant to the disciplines;• work that covers a restricted area of Psychology with Education;• demonstrating emerging abilities, skills and competencies;Assessment methods in Year 1 include essays, reports, unseen examinations (e.g. open-book examination, multiple-choice questionnaires), oral and poster presentations, statistical exercises and worksheets. Assessments support the achievement of learning outcomes as they are based on learning objectives, are clearly linked to module content and require students to engage with academic content at the appropriate level. Specific assessments for each module are outlined in the module descriptions.
