Learning outcomes

On completion of the programme, students should have provided evidence of being able to:

1. Apply and integrate a critical understanding of theories of business management across a range of practical organisational contexts at the functional, operational and strategic level.
2. Demonstrate relevant academic, research, reflective and digital literacy skills for undergraduate study of Business Management.
3. Demonstrate an awareness of the importance of ethics and of individual, collective and corporate social responsibility.
4. Demonstrate an awareness of the global and cultural dimension to business management.
5. Critically evaluate alternative approaches to areas of complexity or uncertainty and apply their own perspective in order to recommend solutions.
6. Apply the knowledge and skills gained to enable them to demonstrate technical accuracy in written communication and to operate effectively in a management or leadership role within an organisation.

Transferable (key) skills

Students will have had the opportunity to acquire, as defined in the modules specified for the programme:
- the transferable/key/generic skills necessary for employment related to the area(s) studied;
- the exercise of initiative and personal responsibility;
-the deployment of decision making skills in complex and unpredictable situations;
- the communication of information, ideas, problems and solutions in a variety of ways to a variety of audiences;
-the ability to undertake appropriate further training of a professional or equivalent nature;

Assessment

Achievement will be assessed by a variety of methods in accordance with the learning outcomes of the modules specified for the year/programme and will include:
- demonstrating the ability to apply a broad range of aspects of business management;
- work that draws on a wide variety of material;
- the ability to evaluate and criticise received opinion;
- evidence of an ability to conduct independent, in depth enquiry within an area of business management;
- work that is typically both evaluative and creative;
