Learning outcomes
On completion of the year/programme students should have provided evidence of being able to: - Demonstrate practical and cultural understanding of the society of the country of residence - Demonstrate the ability to study within a different academic and cultural framework - having acquired academic and practical knowledge of the subject relating to their degree programme - speak and understand everyday conversation, write basic sentences and read simple texts in Arabic
Transferable (key) skills
- Qualities and transferable skills necessary for working in another academic system and living in another country. - Enhanced practical language skills, both written and oral, in some cases in a language other than English, as required by the demands of study in another country. - Having developed transferable skills in openness and sensitivity to diversity in terms of people and culture
Assessment
Achievement will be assessed (on a Pass/Fail basis) by: - passing all the year abroad modules (in case of failure, a resit exam will be arranged) - regular tests and examinations set by the year abroad institution and the University of Leeds - successful completion of all courses taken in the year abroad institution
