MA Conflict, Development and Peacebuilding

Learning outcomes

At the end of this programme you will be able to demonstrate:
1. A sophisticated understanding of concepts, information and techniques; an ability to think critically about current issues and research in the discipline of Conflict, Development, and Peacebuilding.
2. The ability to identify, use and analyse industry, international and scholarly data.
3. Develop critical insights from case studies through experiential learning-based teaching.
4. In-depth knowledge of the governance regimes that seek to address conflict and development challenges.
5. Knowledge and experience from a diverse range of perspectives in issues relating to conflict, development and peacebuilding, as well as an understanding of the key institutions, ideas and other actors.

Skills Learning Outcomes
At the end of this programme you will be able to:
1. Design and develop research projects through independent learning and evaluating one’s own and others’ achievements in a way which ensures continuing professional development.
2. Critically engage in the development of ideas and contribute to discussions; engage in self-reflection.
3. Use digital skills in a variety of contexts to discover and retrieve information, to produce documents, and to communicate and present findings to others.
4. Communicate your ideas confidently, concisely and persuasively to individuals and groups across a range of formats.
5. Gather, interrogate and utilise knowledge, methods and data to identify whether it is accurate and relevant, drawing on a range of international scholarly databases.
6. Utilise your experience and engagement with an interdisciplinary teaching team with expertise in political economy, International Relations, Development, Anthropology, Public Health and Sociology.

Assessment

Each module is assessed separately, through assessments that range from long essays to projects and assignments, offering you the opportunity to work in your particular field of interest within each topic area. You will also carry out a dissertation in a research area of your choice.
