Learning outcomes

1. Design and conduct independent research in the field of Intercultural Studies using appropriate methods that are implemented effectively 

2. Critically evaluate the issues and concepts involved in Intercultural Studies, intercultural communication in professional contexts, and the study of English as a global language 

3. Identify and explain key factors that may play a role in intercultural settings, including professional environments, and be able to apply these concepts to new contexts

4. Communicate your ideas accurately and effectively, with individuals and in groups 

5. Identify and evaluate the role you play in negotiating and influencing others through self-reflection 

Skills Learning Outcomes
1. Effective Communication- to engage in interdisciplinary discussions, to listen actively and critically, and seek solutions through discussion

2. Time management, organisation and planning- to design and manage a project independently, set targets and priorities, work under pressure, and work towards a goal

3. Interpersonal skills- demonstrate an awareness of yourself and others, mediate effectively between different groups, understand others’ positions, and collaborate effectively to achieve a goal

4. Personal and Professional self-management- the ability to work independently, and on own initiative. Awareness of own strengths and development needs and the need for ongoing learning and proactive continuing professional development. Ability to set and achieve goals, and to seek/accept feedback

Assessment

Achievement for the degree of Master (taught programme) will be assessed by a variety of methods in accordance with the learning outcomes of the modules specified for this programme. The programme uses a range of assessment methods that create an assessment and feedback culture that is fair, inclusive, and authentic.
