Health care provision is undergoing constant review and change. Increasingly, the context in which care is provided is changing, these include, both patient and client groups, the people who provide the care, fiscal and other resource constraints and priorities and the expectations of the general public are changing. These constant changes mean that nurses need to recognise the role they play in healthcare, as well as being flexible in their delivery and management of care. It also means that they are able to anticipate and deliver intelligent, active, responsive and insightful care by challenging and making relationships between knowledge and experiences. This module aims to prepare the student nurse for his/her role as a qualified nurse, identify the requirements for this and what will be needed in the preceptorship phase. Objectives
