Objectives
To develop a critical awareness of the different ways in which the history of science can be written and the different historiographical traditions in this subject.Syllabus
Study of classic histories of science dating from 18th to 20th centuries and also a diverse range of recent material illustrating different genres in the history of science.
Teaching methods
Seminar meeting for two hours each week. At each session a set text will be studied with reports by students and extensive discussion led by a member of staff.
Methods of assessment
1 essay of 1500 words (25%) to be submitted by an agreed date and 1 x 2 hour exam at end of second semester (75%).
