Objectives

On completion of this module students should be have pursued in greater depth than in options a topic of their own choice, developed basic research skills and put them into practice, and tested the skills and knowledge acquired throughout the module.

Syllabus

In semester two of level 2, students will be asked to submit a proposal to show a critical grasp of the bibliographic and historiographic problems of the intended subject. After approval by the module team this will lead to the production, under supervision, of a detailed proposal or equivalent of c.4000 words and a dissertation of 10,000-12,000 words that is divided into chapters including introduction and conclusion and with footnotes and bibliography.
