Pre-requisite qualifications
Students must have completed 40 credits from the following: ARTF1005, ARTF1006, ARTF1007, ARTF1008, ARTF1041, ARTF1042 or ARTF2000 plus 20 credits coded ARTF at level 2.Plus a minimum of 40 credits in other level 2 modules in the History of Art (coded ARTF).
This module is not approved as an Elective
Objectives
- To give students the opportunity to pursue in greater depth than in options a topic of their own choice,- to develop basic research skills and
- to put into practice and test the skills and knowledge acquired throughout the module.
Skills outcomes
- Written fluency in constructing a logical and coherent argument;
- Co-ordination and dissemination of a range of historical, contextual visual information;
- Using bibliographies and referencing.
Syllabus
In semester 2 of level 2 a proposal to be submitted to show a critical grasp of the bibliographic and historiographic problems of the intended subject.
After approval by the Head of Department and module Team this will lead to the production, under supervision, of an essay of 10,000 - 12,000 words, divided into chapters including introduction and conclusion and with footnotes and bibliography.
