Objectives
On completing this module students will be able to demonstrate: i) a thorough knowledge of the issues and arguments relating to specific topics in European integration; ii) an ability to apply economic theory in a critical evaluation of a range of European integration problems; iii) an ability to use and evaluate appropriate evidence and the existing literature in the analysis of European integration problems.Syllabus
Analysis of topics from the recent literature on European integration. These topics may include theories of integration, monetary union, tax and fiscal policy, budgetary policy, industrial policy, regional policy, labour market policy, environmental policy and enlargement will be assessed in relation to the single market.
Teaching methods
Lectures 10 x 1 hour; Seminars 4 x 1 hour.
Methods of assessment
2 hour examination.
