Objectives
On completion of this module, students should be able to: understand the nature and significance of Operations Management as an organisational practice directed to the management of physical resources; recognise the role of the operations function within, and its contribution to, an organisation; and contribute to the design, improvement, and planning and control of operations.Syllabus
Introduction and Strategy The nature of operations management; systems approach; strategic role of operations; Design Goods / services design; process design; network design; layout design; technology; Planning and Control Capacity planning; scheduling; inventory; project planning; Philosophies MRP and JIT; quality gurus; quality planning and control techniques; TQM; and Improvement continuous improvement; performance measurement and benchmarking.
