Objectives
On completion of this module, students should have engaged aurally with different types of music from a variety of times and places, and developed skills necessary for listening critically to recordings and live performances; have some experience of peer-group teamwork activity; have some experience of tutorial and seminar group interaction; have cultivated skills in articulating opinions and critical observations about music, both verbally and in writing.Syllabus
This module fosters and encourages the ability to approach music primarily as an aural phenomenon. Its aim is to expose students to a wide variety of musics, including "classical", "popular" and "world" musics. The module will draw upon music performed in the University's free lunchtime concert series, as well as the library's CD collection and online music services.
