Objectives
On completion of this module students will be able to produce effective arrangements and orchestrations for a variety of wind, brass and full orchestral forces. Students will also be able to show knowledge of scoring principles in repertories ranging from the 18C to the 20C, including commercial styles.Syllabus
Outline introduction to principles of scoring: instruments, transpositions , layout, notation issues; 18C orchestral scoring; 19C orchestral scoring, with models from Brahms, Romantic orchestra scoring with model from Elgar; 20C orchestral scoring with models from Debussy, Walton and others.
