Objectives
On completion of this module, students should be able to:Understand some of the main concepts, principles and positions in political philosophy; read elementary writings in political philosophy with understanding; interpret and analyze arguments in political philosophy, and express this understanding in an essay
Syllabus
Topics to be covered typically include some of the following: the nature of the state; the justification of state authority; the nature and claims of distributive justice; the nature and value of liberty; the nature and value of rights; concepts of property; main schools of contemporary political thought (anarchist, liberal, communitarian, etc).
