Module summary
The module grapples with the key issues of our time in European international relations: war, peace, human rights, international legitimacy, intelligence, civil wars, international organisations and international relations, and the role of the EU in world affairs. The key state and non-state actors in European international relations will be dealt with in this timely module: the UK, US, Germany, France, EU, OSCE, NATO and so forth. The module seeks to present an analysis of Europe in the World in the post-Cold War world.For further information see the School of Politics and International Studies website. On completion of this module, students should be able to critically evaluate the principle theoretical and empirical developments in the study of European security and defence issues. The module equips students with the requisite subject knowledge and, through seminar presentations, with the ability to defend and assess competing standpoints.Syllabus
