Objectives
On completion of this module, students should be able to:- engage with the complex nature of contemporary art practices, in a variety of media, and to train their critical skills;
- examine the histories and traditions of this practice and assist students in identifying specific interest within contemporary art practice;
- develop personal studio work and monitor the development of this work.
Skills outcomes
- Verbal and written fluency in constructing a logical and coherent argument
- Use of audio visual aids
- Participation in group discussions
- Co-ordination and dissemination of a range of historical, contextual visual information
- Using bibliographies and databases.
Syllabus
Studio work as determined by studio staff. Students should also engage with a series of lectures, seminars, tutorials and visiting speakers throughout the programme which contributes to the discussions about contemporary art practice.
Field trips, as determined by the studio staff, to attend exhibitions, galleries, or fine art fairs may, from time to time, form part of the syllabus.
