Objectives
On completion of this module, students should have developed understandings of art and its histories as constituted through a variety of narrative conventions, conceptual structures and social formations.Skills outcomes
- Verbal and written fluency in constructing a logical and coherent argument
- Use of audio visual aids
- Participation in group discussions
- Co-ordination and dissemination of a range of historical, contextual visual information
- Using bibliographies and databases.
Syllabus
This module develops questions explored in Semester 1 concerning conventions of social explanation, values and access to art as value, art as meaning, and art as 'truth'.
Through post-structuralist approaches we further open these explorations onto questions of sexual difference in art.
