On completion of this module, students will: i) have an extended knowledge of techniques in mathematics and statistics; ii) be able to recognise and use more advanced techniques in mathematics and statistics; iii) be able to apply more advanced techniques in mathematics and statistics; to analyse issues and solve problems in accounting, economics, econometrics and management; iv) be able to understand the literature in accounting, economics and management which utilises these techniques.Syllabus
More advanced topics in multivariate optimisation, linear equations, matrix algebra, linear programming and multivariate analysis in economics, econometrics, finance and management. More advanced topics in the theory and application of probability distributions, estimators and estimation, inference and decision making, and hypotheses testing applied to economics, finance, econometrics and management.
Teaching methods
Lectures/workshops: 32 x 1.5 hours
plus weekly surgeries.
Methods of assessment
3 hour examination.
