Objectives
On completion of this module, students should be able to:- Evaluate different Operations Management philosophies, techniques and contexts providing examples of their own experience.
- Critically examine Operations Management philosophies, techniques and contexts in order to help solve practical business problems
Syllabus
The nature of operations management; the systems approach; system dynamics; strategic role and objectives of operations; operations strategy development; product/service design; process design; layout design; aggregate planning; scheduling; demand management and capacity planning; inventory management; operations philosophies; supply chain planning; project planning; quality planning; statistical quality control (SPC); quality gurus; TQM; process improvement; and performance measurement and benchmarking.

Private study
Students are expected to both read and prepare case materials as directed, prior to attending classes.
