Objectives
The progressive development of instrumental or vocal technique and the development of performance skills through repertoire studies; the development of associated skills of aural awareness, sight reading and memorising.Syllabus
This varies from student to student depending on the chosen instrumental or vocal study. The following instrumental studies may be taken: piano, harpsichord, organ, violin, viola, violoncello, double-bass, flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, bassoon, horn, trumpet, trombone, tuba, timpani, percussion, harp, guitar, recorder, cornet, euphonium. (Other studies may be available on request). Students are guaranteed individual lessons with a specialist teacher. These are normally taken at fortnightly intervals. Students are expected to practice for a minimum of an hour a day with only occasional days of rest from practice; students may be expected to take part in departmental ensembles as appropriate.
