Module summary
This module should enable students to develop a specialist area within Translation Studies, involving some original research on the student’s part. By giving students an extended opportunity to develop a specific area of research expertise, the Long Dissertation module will be particularly useful for students wishing to go on to do further research work (e.g. a PhD).Objectives
On completion of this module, students should be able to demonstrate detailed knowledge of their specialist area within Translation Studies.Learning outcomes
On completion of this module, students should be able to produce an extended piece of written work based on supervised independent
investigation of a specialist topic within the field of translation studies. This will demonstrate an ability to formulate research questions, select
appropriate research methods with which to address them, develop a critical stance in relation to the topic and present a coherent argument
supported by academic evidence. Students should also be able to express themselves clearly and to present their work in line with normal academic standards.
