Module summary
This module allows students to develop a detailed knowledge and understanding of paediatric radiography.Objectives
The aim of this module is to enable students to critically explore the challenges of paediatric radiography. Students will gain a detailed understanding of the different needs of children and young people and how to adapt their approach and communication technique in order to ensure a successful outcome for a range paediatric imaging examinations. They will also critically explore the role of imaging in child protection and non-accidental injury cases.Learning outcomes
On successful completion of this module, the student will be able to:
- Develop a detailed understanding of the different physical, psychological and emotional needs of children and young people
- Critically reflect on how to adapt practice in order to deliver person centred care to children, young people and their families
- Critically explore the role of the imaging department in the diagnosis and treatment of a range of common paediatric pathologies
- Critically explore the role of the imaging department in child protection and non-accidental injury cases
