Module summary

This module is an active simulation of a project. In particular, it builds up from all the previous modules and applies it into a simulated project environment through a Project Management Simulator Software. It explores the impact of decision-making on the variables and outcomes in the simulated project environment.

Objectives

This module aims to provide students with a comprehensive, practical understanding of a project management scenario and to formulate appropriate strategies to deal with the change. It integrates knowledge acquired from previous modules such as project budgeting, risk management, people management, stakeholder management with the use of traditional project management tools (such as, Gantt chart, Critical Path, Earned Value). Therefore, by combining all these aspects in a dynamic environment, the module emphasizes the impact of decision-making on project outcomes.

Learning outcomes
On successful completion of the module students will have demonstrated the following learning outcomes relevant to the subject:

1. Apply multidisciplinary knowledge: demonstrate the ability to integrate subject-specific knowledge, effectively applying this diverse knowledge base to make informed decisions within the simulated project environment.

2. Evaluate the impact of decision-making: develop the skills to assess the consequences of various decision-making strategies on project variables and outcomes.

3. Formulate appropriate strategies to manage the project scenario and test the suitability of these strategies to deal with project changes.

4. Synthesize, communicate, and reflect on the lesson learned to improve future delivery of projects: ability to synthesize complex information, draw meaningful conclusions, and communicate project insights effectively.
