Objectives
On completion of this module students should have acquired the following:- understanding of the most common project management tools and techniques;
- knowledge of a range of issues that are currently facing the project manager; and
- awareness of a range of realistic situations that a successful project manager would have to manage and control.
Learning outcomes
On completion of this module students will have:
1. Critical understanding of key project management concepts, their evaluation and application in engineering projects
2. Development of problem setting and problem-solving capabilities in complex project situations
3. Knowledge and comprehensive understanding of project management processes and methods for the application of unique situations
4. Understanding the ethical dimension of planning and delivering projects
5. Knowledge and understanding of practices in the realm of project business and/or project based companies
6. Awareness of how project management can contribute to the achievement of some of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals
7. Awareness of the key elements of project risk management
8. A thorough understanding of the key topics presently discussed in project management practice and research
9. Understanding the key stakeholders involved in planning and delivering engineering projects

General introduction to project management covering all phases of the project life cycle and including:
Defining Projects and Project Management;
Project Stakeholders and Stakeholders management
Scope management; Project life cycle
Economic and financial evaluation of projects
Critical Path Method
Earned Value Management System
Project management success vs. project success & Megaprojects
