Objectives
* To increase awareness of the importance of organising, managing, and leading the project team;* To increase understanding of the processes required to organise, manage and lead the project team;
* To promote competence in using management tools and technique for organising, managing and leading the project team;
* To increase awareness of the importance of timely and appropriate planning, collection, creation, distribution, storage, retrieval, management, control, monitoring, and the ultimate disposition of project management;
* To increase understanding of the processes required to plan, collect, create, distribute, store, retrieve, manage, control, monitor, and dispose of project information.
* To increase competence in using management tools and techniques for planning, collection, creation, distribution, storage, retrieval, management, control, monitoring, and disposal of project information.
Learning outcomes
On completion of the module students will have:
1. Awareness of the need for a high level of professional and ethical conduct in managing human resources in engineering projects. (Economic, legal, social, ethical and environmental context).
2. Awareness of the need for a high level of professional and ethical conduct in managing communications in engineering projects. (Economic, legal, social, ethical and environmental context).
3. Knowledge and understanding of management and business practices, and their limitations, and how these may be applied in the context of managing human resources in engineering projects. (Economic, legal, social, ethical and environmental context).
4. Knowledge and understanding of management and business practices, and their limitations, and how these may be applied in the context of managing communications in engineering projects. (Economic, legal, social, ethical and environmental context).

PROJECT HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT

* Plan human resource management;
* Estimate activity human resources
* Acquire human resources;
* Develop project team; and
* Manage project team.
PROJECT COMMUNICATIONS MANAGEMENT
Inputs, tools/techniques and outputs of the following processes:
* Plan communications management;
* Manage communications; and
* Control communications.
