Objectives
This module provides students with practical skills needed for the MA New Media. It is an optional supernumerary module for students with new media production skills that are not sufficiently advanced. It will offer practical skills in the following core areas of new media practice: visual design, web design, animation, and dynamic web design. Thus the module will equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge in new media productionLearning outcomes
On completion of this module, students will:
- have a basic working knowledge of the core new media production skills of visual design, web design, animation and advanced web design
- be able to construct basic digital products and will have some understanding of the processes that accompany their design
- realise and create work within various aural, visual, audio-visual or other digital media
- begin to understand some of the professional, technical and formal choices that underpin existing practices and traditions
- have a basic understanding of some of the possibilities and constraints involved in new media production processes.

Private study
Students will: practice and familiarise themselves with the tools and resources they are introduced to during the workshops. Students will submit a portfolio of exercises which will form the basis of their assessment. The exercises will be commenced during the workshops and completed during students’ private study time.Opportunities for Formative Feedback
Student progress will be monitored via participation in workshops. They will be asked to submit portfolio exercises on a weekly basis, which will be assessed.Reading list
