Objectives
This module aims to further develop written communication skills in Japanese based upon the knowledge and skills acquired in Level 1 and Year Abroad.By the end of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1) Comprehend wide range of texts on familiar/social issues within a reasonable time frame without depending too much on a dictionary;
2) Demonstrate various writing skills on familiar/social topics in accordance with the purposes and contexts such as letters, reports and essays;
3) Express their own opinions clearly with accurate and appropriate use of intermediate grammar and vocabulary;
4) Acquire basic English-Japanese translation skills.
Learning outcomes
To write Japanese fluently and accurately in all language tasks and, in translation between English and Japanese, to use both languages accurately, with correct spelling and grammar.

Syllabus
This module will focus on both reading and writing skills, with special emphasis on written communication skills. Reading skills will be developed through reading various texts on familiar/social topics, and writing skills will be also improved through various writing exercises, compositions and English-Japanese translations. Grammar exercise will be also provided to consolidate intermediate grammar and expressions.
