Objectives
This module aims to further develop spoken communication skills in Japanese based upon the knowledge and skills acquired in Level 1 and Year Abroad.By the end of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1) Communicate naturally and appropriately in familiar contexts encountered in daily life;
2) Give a short speech based upon their experiences and opinions in an effective manner;
3) Discuss familiar/social issues and express their own opinions clearly using a wide range of vocabulary and expressions;
4) Comprehend most daily conversations spoken at natural speed both in formal and informal settings.

Development of overall oral/aural communication skills
Syllabus
This module will focus on both oral and aural skills with special emphasis on spoken communication skills. Oral skills will be developed through speech presentations and discussions on various personal and social topics. Both collective and individual pronunciation clinics will be provided. Aural skills will be also consolidated through listening dialogues, news and other authentic/semi-authentic materials. The exam will include topics covered over the full 11 weeks of semester 2 teaching.
