Module summary
**Students may not take this module in the same programme year as EAST2012/EAST2013/EAST2022 or EAST2023**This module is for those who have passed Basic Chinese 1 and 2 or equivalent. It aims to provide a solid foundation in Chinese upper-elementary to intermediate grammar, vocabulary and writing skills. There are 4 contact teaching hours per week, working through the textbook. The module is intensive and is offered in semester one.Objectives
To continue Chinese language training, building on Level-one modules (or equivalent foundation skills) so as to provide a solid grounding in Chinese grammar and further development of listening, speaking, reading and writing skillsLearning outcomes
To utilise Chinese generally fluently and accurately in all language tasks and in translation between English and Chinese, to use both languages accurately, with correct spelling and grammar.
Skills outcomes
The skills include upper-elementary to intermediate grammar, listening, speaking, reading, writing and translation.
Syllabus
This module will cover intermediate-level grammar, including sentence structure, verb forms; intermediate-level translation and composition exercises, listening and conversation practice.
